Chimichurri Information

Driving along Rockaway Turnpike, it’s easy to miss a lot of spots, but Chimichurri at 450 Rockaway Turnpike in Lawrence, NY, is one of those places that quietly builds a loyal following. The name alone hints at bold, herb-packed flavors, and once you step inside, the experience leans heavily into that promise with a menu rooted in Latin-inspired comfort food and grilled specialties.

The first thing that stands out is the aroma-smoky, garlicky, and unmistakably fresh. It’s the kind of scent that makes you commit to ordering more than you planned. The menu offers a solid mix of grilled meats, sandwiches, and rice plates, with a clear emphasis on quality ingredients and generous portions. Their signature sauces, especially the classic chimichurri, feel house-made in the best way-bright, slightly tangy, and packed with herbs that elevate everything from steak to chicken.

On a recent visit, the grilled skirt steak was a standout, cooked to a perfect medium with a nicely charred exterior. Paired with rice and beans, it felt hearty without being overly heavy. The chicken dishes also deserve attention; they’re juicy and well-seasoned, not just an afterthought for those skipping red meat. Even something as simple as fries comes out crisp and well-salted, showing attention to detail across the board.

The atmosphere leans casual, more diner-style than upscale restaurant, but that works in its favor. It’s the kind of place where locals swing by after work or families gather for an easy, satisfying meal. Service tends to be friendly and efficient, with staff who know the menu well and don’t hesitate to make recommendations if you’re unsure what to try.

Location-wise, being right on Rockaway Turnpike makes it convenient for both locals and anyone passing through the area, though parking can get a bit tight during peak hours. Still, the steady stream of regulars speaks volumes, and online reviews consistently highlight the food quality and portion sizes as major positives.

While it may not have the polished vibe of a high-end dining spot, that’s not really the point here. It’s about reliable, flavorful food that hits the spot every time, with a menu that balances variety and focus without overwhelming you.

What People's Say About Place

The fried chicken was delicious! We got the dark mean and it was really good. The Ratatouille and coleslaw were ok. The fries weren't soggy and the salad was good. The food was warm, NOT hot. They are very cheap with table wear and sauces... They knew we came in with 3 people, ordered a salad and the half chicken to share and only gave us 2 plates and sets of silverware until we asked, additional, they charged for any extra sauce... We got 4 pieces of chicken and only give you one small container of sauce with it ... It should have come with 2... Since you get one container with 2 pieces of chicken. The dining area was nice big and clean. They don't have any soap/paper towels in the bathroom but there are sinks with both right outside the restrooms.

Chimichurri in Queens was a decent experience overall. They offer two different menus, one more Mediterranean style and the other leaning Latin, so I tried a mix of shawarma plates and burritos for the office. The portions were good and the food was still enjoyable even though I ate later than everyone else. Some of the flavors were different than expected, with curry notes that caught me a bit off guard, but nothing was bad. I did not try everything, so I would still be open to coming back again if I am in the area, even if it is not a place I would specifically seek out.

The best kosher chicken place I've ever been to—from their sandwiches to their fried chicken, nothing compares to their delicious flavor; they don't even need sauces because there just that good. Wish they had more locations like in Brooklyn. Highly recommend

The burger was definitely the best! Chili fries were great and wings are delicious. Kebab was a little dry. Overall, pretty good experience!

Great prices, great food, staff is friendly and helpful. Chimichurri is a nice little unassuming restaurant. Seeing it from the street you'd never guess how good it is. The ingredients are all fresh and cooked to perfection and there are a wide variety of delicious sides to choose from. Great food for the whole family.

Third time eating here. I think it is the best fried chicken I ever had. The sides are decent. Make sure to get the wings. They recently raised prices it used to be more affordable. I don't like how one sauce is 50 cents. If I am paying 20 dollars for a meal I think it is fair to get more then one complimentary sauce. Overall I would eat here once a month it is very good. Thanks guys.

That’s my first time dinner and I’m out of town! Before I looked at reviews…everyone loved it! But, I asked my father about Chimichurri and he doesn’t(maybe talked about difficult out of parking). So, I told my father that I wanted to try and had a charcoal chicken with green beans and potato wedges(supposed mashed potato)…SO DELICIOUS! Hoped I would come back again.

The food is great here, I go for the fried chicken and the charcoal chicken.. I go for the orzo and whatever else they have.. the food is great.. not to mention they recently expanded the place so it's much bigger. The place is is very clean and tidy..the staff is warm and welcoming and the place is overall worth the visit. This place is the perfect place to bring your family, friends or to solo dine or take out. Bottom line.. I would surely reccomend
